  • Full map-making and scripting tools to give playerrs incredible freedom in customizing and personalizing their gameplay experience

Familiar units will make a triumphant return to the series including the Zealot, Siege Tank, Zergling, and many more. These units have been given powerful new abilities, such as the Zealot's psionic charge ability that enables it to get into close quarters combat as quickly as possible and the Zergling has been given the ability to evolve into an explosive form, making it extremely dangerous versus land-based units. Not only are there many returning favorites, but there are also a lot of new additions as well. One example of a new unit is the Protoss Mothership, a unit so powerful you may only have one of them at a time on the battlefield. The mothership can create black holes to obliterate aerial units or set up a protective time distortion field to stop incoming projectile weapons from being able to hit the mothership. It can also activate the world cracker lazer and rain death and destruction from above.

More importantly, the game features many features that you would expect from a next-gen RTS. The game is beautifully rendered in 3D and has an impressive new graphics engine for realistic smoke, explosions, and rag-doll physics. For example, when killing an aerial unit the debris will fall to earth and if it falls on an inclined surface such as a ramp it will slide down the ramp. Another great example of innovation are units that can walk or jetpack over cliffs. This opens up many strategic possibilities.
